Decreased Thermal Performance

At Integrity Products & Supplies Inc., we take pride in advancing industrial research and helping the asset integrity community better understand the hidden challenges associated with thermally insulated assets.
The Challenge:
Thermal insulation’s affinity for moisture absorption is an undeniable fact. While moisture is widely recognized as a contributor to Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), it also causes thermal losses that often go unnoticed and unaccounted for. Despite several studies examining the effects of wet insulation, the industry has lacked a practical framework to understand and quantify these thermal losses.
Our Research:
To address this gap, we developed a novel framework to quantify thermal losses from moisture-saturated insulation. Our approach combines experimental testing, field validation, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to provide a deeper understanding of insulation performance under real-world conditions.
Beyond CUI Mitigation:
While our PTFE Spacer Wrap is recognized for its role in mitigating CUI, our research demonstrates another significant benefit: reducing thermal losses by eliminating direct contact between wet insulation and the pipe surface.
New Research Published:
We’re excited to share that our latest research by Graham and Ahmad, "Decreased Thermal Performance: An Often-Neglected Outcome of Moisture-Saturated Insulation," has been published in Insulation Outlook.

This work introduces a practical framework for evaluating thermal losses in wet insulation systems and highlights important considerations for asset integrity, insulation performance, and energy efficiency.
Stay tuned as we continue to share research and innovations that help improve the long-term reliability of insulated assets.
